Get Involved With The Danish Heritage Preservation Society
The Heritage Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Danevang’s past.
Membership is open to everyone. Members receive discounts in the Gift Shop, Lecture Admissions, Invitations to Exhibit Openings, and Much More!
Fundraising
The members of the Danish Heritage Preservation Society and many neighborhood supporters have one goal in mind: to preserve the hastily disappearing past of our small community for the education of future generations.
The Danish Capital of Texas 5K Fun Run is one of the fundraising activities currently being held by the museum. Please follow the link in our Events section to sign up for the run, or you may donate to the museum and the run by using or donation widget.
Volunteer Opportunities
Docents:
Saturday afternoons from 1 PM to 4 PM. A love for history and a willingness to tell our story are the only requirements. Training for new volunteers is available. Contact Suzan Berndt at the Museum.
Unpaid Internships Opportunities
Curatorial Internships:
Interns may be asked to help with one or more of the following projects and work either independently or in conjunction with the staff. Possible projects include:
- Artifact Preservation. A large number of objects in our collection need to be examined for proper inventory and preservation.
- Photographing Objects. Every object needs a clear, detailed photograph in its file for identification purposes.
- Inventorying Archives and Photographs. We have a large collection of old photographs and archival materials that need to be examined and organized.
- Data Entry. We need help updating our collections database
